Guide Dogs of America Announces Veterinarian Volunteer Program!

GDA currently has four volunteer positions open in our veterinary department. Tasks will include but are not limited to:

GDA Pup in Recovery

A GDA puppy-in-training in recovery after a procedure in our veterinary clinic.

  • Sitting/monitoring dogs as they wake up from surgery
  • Laundry
  • Cleaning recovery runs
  • Leash walking dogs to give opportunity to relieve

The ideal volunteers must commit to at least one four-hour block from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on assigned current surgery days of Tuesday and Saturday.

Volunteers must be able to sit and stand on the ground and get up from a sitting position while on the ground. Volunteers must be comfortable with post-operation sights ie. blood, tubes, iv’s etc. Minimum age of 18 to apply.
