Vancouver, WA is where Joanie is from and she joined the class to receive her eighth guide dog, a yellow female Labrador Retriever named “Jeanie”.
Like many of our students who have seen our Guide Dogs of America graduates working with their dogs, Joanie was so taken by how the GDA dogs she’s seen worked that she decided when it was time to get a new dog, it would be from GDA.
“I really learned from GDA how to get back to the basics of training and how to get rid of some of the bad habits I picked up through the years, ” says Joanie. “Being here got me back on track to where I needed to be.”
Joanie was born blind and is retired from a career in the Special Education field.
