We’re Celebrating World Autism Month!
World Autism Month is celebrated every April, beginning with World Autism Awareness Day on April 2. Our goal is to help create a world where all people with autism can reach their full potential.
Here are a few facts that will increase your awareness, understanding, and acceptance of Autism.
1. Autism affects 1 in every 44 children in the U.S. today Autism Spectrum Disorder refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech, and nonverbal communication.
2. Create a kinder world Promote acceptance of autism and help create a kinder world. Any act of kindness, big or small, can make an impact and is a powerful way to show others you care. Use our Kindness Calendar on below to get started.
3. There is no cure, but there’s us
If a child is experiencing anxiety, our dogs can calm them down by providing sensory input, by laying on their lap or at their feet. Cues like “visit,” “wave,” or “fist bump” are designed to help children struggling with social skills by welcoming social engagement.
Our dogs usher confidence and independence into the lives of autistic children and, by making life easier, help children reach their full potential.
