Job Purpose: Ensure a dynamic volunteer program enabling GDA/TLC to effectively support mission delivery, fundraising and outreach objectives; perform database entry; and provide administrative support.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain comprehensive volunteer engagement plan including recruitment, selection, training, assignment, and recognition — 20%
  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies, assessing and refreshing on an ongoing basis – 20%
  • Maintain comprehensive volunteer database, including updating contact information, waivers and other required documents, tracking assignments, hours and communications, and keeping a record of volunteer history within the program – 20%
  • Conduct orientations for new volunteers and work with departmental program staff to coordinate on-going development sessions for existing volunteers – 10%
  • Plan and participate in volunteer recognition events and assist with other volunteer related events 10%
  • Represent organization with others at public outreach events to promote volunteer opportunities as needed – 5%
  • Assist with merchandise sales and inventory at events – 5%
  • Database entry, reception and administrative support as needed – 10%
  • Working weekends and evenings as needed
  • Other duties as assigned or required

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit/walk for long periods
  • Ability to lift minimum of 30 lbs.
  • Visual acuity required to read forms, documentation, and computer screen
  • Hearing ability required to interact with volunteers, visitors, staff, clients
  • Ability to tolerate elevated noise levels – barking dogs
  • Ability to interact professionally and courteously with all types of people/personalities

Qualifications:

  • 18+ years of age
  • Some travel will be required; valid driver’s license and insurability required
  • High school graduate or GED
  • Ability to handle multiple interruptions and to multi-task
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Ability to work independently to meet personal deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft, Excel and Outlook, SharePoint and CRM database management program such as Salesforce
  • Work well as part of a team and in a team environment
