Preston in 2018

Preston is a Courthouse Facility Dog at the Vandenberg Air Force Base working in the Sexual Assault Preventing Response Unit. We received an update from him January of 2019:

Hi Friends, Preston here checking in from Vandenberg AFB, CA. Vandenberg AFB is a Department of Defense space and missile testing base, with a mission of placing satellites into polar orbit from the West Coast using expendable and reusable boosters. Saying I have the opportunity to work with the best in the Air Force is an understatement. Military life can be tough, but I am here when our nations best need me most. Since arriving in May 2018, my friends at Vandenberg have gone out of their way to make me feel like one of the team. I had the opportunity to star in my own public affairs video last summer, support clients of the sexual assault prevention and response office in law enforcement interviews, counseling sessions, and take the stand in court. I am one of the most well known public figures on the base welcoming all new Airman to Vandenberg AFB. When I am not on base you can find me off base building key relationships with my important community partners. Last summer I was recognized by Executive Director of North County Rape Crisis & Child Protection Center for my collaboration efforts. If my full time job wasn’t busy enough I am also a special emphasis program assistant with my handler to provide education to the community on service animals. I have attended career days in the local community, and educate the public on the importance of allowing working dogs to perform their jobs without distraction, and educate on my role at VAFB. My days are busy, but I really am the perfect pup for the job. I can handle the structure of the military life, while still enjoying the best things life has to offer (snuggles, stuffy’s, love). Even on busy days you can find me in the afternoon snuggled up taking a nap in my office. If you want to follow more of my journey feel free to follow me on Instagram at tlcad_preston. Until next time, I want to say thank you to all of the people at TLCAD for making my placement possible.- Preston
