Sign the petition to urge the VA to establish a dedicated Department within the VA to manage the Service Dog VHIB Applications
We are reaching out to you today with an urgent request. A petition has been started on Change.org that aims to provide veterans and their service dogs with support when applying for the Service Dog Veterinary Health Insurance Benefit (VHIB) within the Veterans Administration (VA) Offices.
Brennon, pictured above, is a Medically Retired Air Force veteran diagnosed with PTSD. In November 2022, he received his service dog, Poet.
After receiving Poet, Brennon applied for the VHIB within the VA office and after waiting over a year, he was wrongfully denied this benefit due to the lack of knowledge and support from the VA Prosthetics office, who currently handles these matters for veterans.
There are approximately 20 million veterans in the United States today, many of whom could potentially benefit from having a service dog. However, without proper support from the VA offices to navigate benefits like VHIB, these essential aids remain inaccessible to many veterans who need them.
GDA|TLC is committed to helping our veterans and we kindly ask that you take a moment to sign Brennon’s petition and share it with your friends, family, and colleagues. Together, we can ensure that our veterans and their loving and loyal service dogs receive the care and assistance they deserve.
We believe that everyone deserves to have a future filled with hope and opportunity. This giving season, you can support our Holidays of Hope campaign and bring light into the lives of other veterans like Brennon, by way of a loving and loyal service dog. Click the arrows to leave a gift »
