Therapy Dog Program

Share the Joy of a Therapy Dog Team

Whether you are new to therapy dog work or an experienced handler, our Therapy Dog Program is open to owners of GDA | TLC career change dogs and GDA | TLC retired guide, service, facility, or breeder dogs.

Together, you and your dog can bring affection, comfort, and love to those who need it most. Our teams visit schools, hospitals, hospice settings, medical centers, support groups, veteran organizations, first responders, and even family courts, creating meaningful connections and brightening lives.

If you are interested in more information about this rewarding program, please contact Lori at LAndersen@guidedogsofamerica.org to learn more and begin the certification process. Once certified, therapy dog teams are provided with a login to access the therapy dog team portal for member resources.

Community Partners

Bring the comfort and joy of a therapy dog visit to your facility or event! Our GDA | TLC Therapy Dog Teams are available to visit schools, hospitals, medical centers, hospice settings, community events, support groups, veteran organizations, first responders, and family courts. Each team is trained to help reduce stress while providing comfort, positive interactions, and a calm, supportive presence across a variety of settings.

Our therapy dogs have transitioned out of the guide or service dog track or are retired working dogs. They are Labrador or Golden Retrievers, guided by their handler, leashed at all times, fully vaccinated, certified, insured, and ready to simply be present or engage with participants.

If your organization would like to schedule a therapy dog visit to your facility, we invite you to submit a request and share the healing power of the human-dog connection.
