Orientation & Mobility (O&M)
Orientation and mobility is training that individuals who are visually impaired receive to help them confidently navigate the world. O&M focuses on things like sensory awareness, spatial concepts, relationships which exist between objects in the environment, searching skills, independent movement, sighted guide, protective techniques and cane skills.

Participants will receive hands-on instruction in essential O&M skills, including:
- Fundamental white cane techniques & human guide methods
- Indoor navigation strategies & urban and rural travel skills
- Intersection analysis and street crossing techniques
- Problem-solving skills for real-world travel situations

- Transportation to and from the GDA|TLC campus
- Lodging accommodations on campus
- 3 daily meals

- Personalized training with a certified O&M Instructor
Admission Requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- Designated legally blind
- Ability to attend a 5-day residential training
- Citizen or Permanent Resident of the USA or Canada
- Ability to walk 1-2 miles twice a day
